To celebrate the Central Catskills Great Outdoors Experience Festival (coming on August 25), we're having a photo contest, sponsored by Peekamoose Restaurant & Tap Room. The deadline to submit your photo is tonight, August 7, at midnight.

The Watershed Post and the Central Catskills Chamber of Commerce are coordinating the contest, and the winners will be featured in the “People’s Guide to the Catskills” section of our forthcoming Catskills Outdoors Guide. One grand prize winner gets dinner for two at Peekamoose in Big Indian.

Here’s how the contest works:

Share a photo of your favorite Catskills outdoors experience, along with a short explanation of its location and awesomeness. (Hint: Funny is good. For an example, see above.)

You can submit entries by posting a photo and a caption on the Great Outdoors Experience Festival's Facebook page or by emailing your entry to Julia Reischel at julia.reischel@watershedpost.com.

A jury will chose winners to be announced at the Great Outdoors Experience Festival on August 25 in Margaretville. A selection of winners will be featured in a Catskills Outdoors Guide to be published by the Watershed Post.

Here’s the fine print:

No purchase is necessary to enter or win this contest. Contest begins on Tuesday, July 17, 2012, and ends at midnight on Tuesday, August 7, 2012. To enter, you must be 18 and live in New York State. To enter the contest, email a photo and a caption to julia.reischel@watershedpost.com, or post it as a comment on the Great Outdoors Experience Festival Facebook Page. Limit one entry per person. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received. Contestants grant the Central Catskills Chamber of Commerce and the Watershed Post the right to publish their photos and their names in print and online. Entry must be the original work of the contestant, must not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, rights of privacy, publicity or other intellectual property or other rights of any person and must not violate any law. We reserve the right to disqualify any entry for any reason. All entries will be judged based on judges’ determination of creativity, wittiness, and beauty. The top scoring entry will be declared the contest winner, and the winner’s name will be announced at the Central Catskills Great Outdoors Festival on August 25, 2012. The prize — a dinner for two at Peekamoose Restaurant & Tap Room in Big Indian — is worth between $80 and $100. The winner will be notified by email by Monday, August 27, and will be provided with a voucher for the meal via email.
