Fuel truck, meet tree

A Bottini fuel truck driving on Glasco Turnpike in Woodstock early Saturday afternoon veered off the road and struck a tree, leaving the driver trapped in the cab.

In an account of the accident on their website, the Woodstock Fire Department wrote that the driver had to be extricated from the truck, and suffered minor injuries. There was no fuel spilled, and Bottini was on the scene within an hour to offload the fuel from the truck.

The driver was 50-year-old Robert Lang of Palenville, the Freeman reports.

The Woodstock Fire Department's arresting photos from the scene got some kudos from Ulster County Fire/Rescue Incidents, a Facebook page recently started by Kerhonkson firefighter Christian Dalsgard to keep track of incidents across Ulster County. From a post on the group's page:

Woodstock's fuel truck into a tree was the incident that stuck out to all of our admins here and it is the incident of the week. Good job to all firefighters at the scene and all over Ulster, it was a busy week.
