This Weekend: Byrdcliffe Festival, July 13-15

Three days of theater, music, arts and storytelling kick off tonight, when the first annual Byrdcliffe Festival of the Arts comes to Woodstock.

The festival features a jam-packed schedule of performances and interactive workshops at the Byrdcliffe Guild's three venues, starting with a 6pm opening reception on Friday at the Kleinert/James Center for the Arts at 34 Tinker Street.

A few highlights: a concert-style rendition of the music from "Jesus Christ Superstar," developed by School of Rock founder and festival producer Paul Green; an appearance by alt-rocker Tracy Bonham; storytelling by the Emmy-winning Giola Timpanelli; a Memoir A-Go-Go workshop with the Woodstock Writers' Festival; and a juicy round of cathartic monologues from the TMI Project.

Wait, that's not all: a Drum Boogie Festival, teenage stage hypnotist Lucas Handwerker, interactive opera from the Phoenicia Festival of the Voice, high Celtic drama and music from the internationally-known VOICETheatre, a sneak peek at songs from young local guitarist Connor Kennedy's upcoming first album, and more.
