Two Poughkeepsie men arrested in Shandaken car theft

This just in from the Shandaken Police Department: On Tuesday, Feb. 28, two Poughkeepsie men, 18-year-old Thomas W. Hyson and 50-year-old Francis M. Sherow III, were arrested and charged with the theft of two cars from the Car Craft Auto Body Shop in Mount Tremper.

The cars were reported stolen on January 12. Police say a witness saw them being towed away by a truck belonging to a Poughkeepsie tow company.

On January 12th, the Shandaken Police received a complaint from Car Craft Auto Body Shop that 2 motor vehicles being stored on their property had been stolen. One vehicle  was owned by the business and the second one belonged to a customer. Police received a tip from a witness who observed a marked tow company from Poughkeepsie removing  the vehicles from the property. After an investigation conducted by police, 2 individuals  were arrested and charged: Thomas W. Hyson, 18 years ef age and Francis M. Sherow 3rd, 50 years of age who both reside on Fulton Street in Poughkeepsie. Sherow was charged with 1 count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, and Hyson was charged with 2 counts each of Grand Larceny and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, all felonies. They were released to appear on March 22nd, 2012 at 3:30 Pm in Shandaken Justice Court.
