A winning Powerball ticket that was sold at a laundromat in the Village of Catskill has gone unclaimed for days, the Daily Freeman, News10, and the Daily Mail report.
A lottery spoksperson told the Freeman that having $122 mil go unclaimed for a while isn't unusual in the lottery business:
“It’s not unusual for a person to wait a day or two to let it sink in,” said Carolyn Hapeman, a lottery spokesperson.
In fact, according to the Daily Mail, another Powerball winner who won $48 million last month in Wilton still hasn't claimed the winning ticket in that contest:
The first New York Powerball jackpot winner was in December 2010. The winner of that jackpot, who has not yet come forward, bought their ticket at a Stewart’s Shop in Wilton and won a prize of $48.8 million.
Maybe both winning tickets are stuck behind couch cushions somewhere?
