A Newburgh man fell to his death from the top of Kaaterskill Falls on Saturday, Nov. 12, New York State Police report.
According to a police statement, 30-year-old Anthony Miele was hiking near the top of the two-tier falls when he slipped on ice and moss, fell into the water, and plunged 120 feet to the rocks at the base of the upper falls.
No foul play is suspected, police say.
Miele's death is the second at Kaaterskill Falls this year. Both deaths in 2016 followed on the heels of $450,000 worth of trail, fencing and other safety improvements to the area around Kaaterskill Falls, a popular tourist destination in the Greene County town of Hunter.
