That's Tommy Ramone, nee Tom Erdelyi -- and he'll be performing with guitarist Claudia Tienan at 2pm Sunday afternoon, on the porch of Homer and Langley's Mystery Spot Antiques.
The duo, known as Uncle Monk, play a mean streak of bluegrass, a fact that never fails to astound music writers reared on a steady diet of "Sheena Is A Punk Rocker" and "I Wanna Be Sedated." Here's Pitch's Jason Harper in 2008, trying to believe his eyes:
At the start of Uncle Monk's second set, Tommy picks up his mandolin, looks ready to play, then stops. "Is there someone here by the name of Joel?" he asks. Joel who? I think. Some famous New York punk promoter who now lives in Kansas?
"I hear it's Joel's 16th birthday," Tommy says, looking at a kid in the front row sitting next to his mom. Joel twitches and raises his hand. We all clap for Joel.
"Holy crap," Joel says in his honking, pubescent voice, "Tommy Ramone wished me a happy birthday!"
UPDATE - 12pm, 8/22: Alas, the show's been rained out. Not exactly front porch weather out there.
