A Long Island man has died after a snowboarding accident that occurred at the Belleayre Mountain Ski Center on Saturday, Jan. 14.
25-year-old Brian Conners of Centerport, NY was snowboarding on the Wanatuska Trail when he had the accident, said spokesperson Jon Lundin of the Olympic Regional Development Authority, which runs Belleayre. The accident occurred shortly before 11 a.m. The Wanatuska Trail is a single-black-diamond trail, classified as "most difficult" by the ski center.
Ski patrol responded to the scene, and Conners was airlifted to Albany Medical Center, Lundin said. According to an obituary published on Legacy.com, Conners died on Sunday, Jan. 15.
New York State Police are investigating the incident, Lundin said.
