ART MARTELLO PERFORMS "SEEING IS BELIEVING"
FOR OPEN EYE THEATER BENEFIT
Mr. Art (Artie) Martello, acclaimed magician, resident of Halcottsville, and generous patron of the arts, will take the stage at The Open Eye Theater, Saturday, September 20, at 7:00 PM. To support The Open Eye Theater he will perform his all new show "Seeing is Believing." Each show Mr. Martello mounts has a new theme; his fans know well that Art’s shows, as his catch phrase states, "are A-maaazing!" "Seeing is Believing" includes several tricks that are so difficult, even Art himself wonders if he can pull them off. He and his able assistant Phyllis Horowitz are contributing their time and talent to this benefit event. Mr. Martello is a member of the Society of American Magicians and International Brotherhood of Magicians (order of Merlin).
Mr. Martello, who also hosts the internationally renowned “Mostly Folk” music radio show on WIOX community radio, has been a generous supporter of The Open Eye Theater for many years with his popular performances. In thanking him publicly, Producing Artistic Director Amie Brockway said, "The Open Eye hugely appreciates Art's contribution; and we are grateful for the opportunity to present him to the community. Art Martello’s productions are deliciously intriguing. He does much more than lift pretty women out of empty boxes (though he has been known to do just that) and makes things disappear. He ended last year's marvelous show reflecting on the late Steve Jobs’ comment that those who think they can change the world are usually the only ones who ever do.”
Master magician and performer Art and his lovely and zany assistant Phyllis will be supported by The Open Eye Theater's technical director Erwin Karl. Intermission fun organized by Board member Gail Lennstrom includes complimentary treats and chances to win mystery prizes. Gail will be assisted by Staff members Andy Cahill, Anne Shea, and a team of volunteers. The house will open at 6:30 for the 7:00 curtain. All admissions are $20.
