Lucinda's vibrant new work reflects her passion for nature and travel. It is a journey through color, form and personal history using layers of imagery in watercolor, ink and collage.

A teaching job in India in 2006 immersed the artist in the saturated color and design motifs that appear in many of her pieces. She uses handmade stencils inspired by fabric designs and traditional Rangoli taught by the Indian women she met there.

“ Painting a bright orange flower may trigger a memory from traveling in India and then begins a visual free association to complete the idea. I am most happy in the intuitive process of creating a work and I desire to evoke a sensation or feeling from the experience.”

Lucinda is as much influenced by the natural beauty of this area and the richness of creativity found here. Familiar subjects range from the long ink drawing of a fennel plant to a watercolor of magnolia branches.
