The 2016 Catskills Food Guide Photo Contest

It's harvest season, and in the Catskills, the veggies are gorgeous. So are the cows, barns and the farmers themselves. (Just ask Real Simple Magazine, which just ran a photo spread of six women farmers from the region.

That means it's time for our annual Catskills Food Guide Photo Contest, once again sponsored by the Peekamoose Restaurant & Tap Room in Big Indian. 

Send us your best photo of Catskills food and bounty for a chance to win the grand prize, a $75 gift certificate to the Peekamoose, or a shot at being on one of the covers of the print 2016 Catskills Food Guide, which comes out in January. (We're selling ads for the guide now, too--reach 20,000 avid readers in the Catskills, NYC and beyond. For info on buying an ad, click here.

Photos of Catskills foods, farms, farmers or food-related subjects are all eligible. The idea is to showcase the incredible bounty of our region. 

You've got a month to email us the perfect shot. 

Here's how the contest works:

Share photos of Catskills foods and/or farms by 11:59 p.m. on October 16, 2015. Points for photos that include luscious close-ups and bright colors. Humor and originality are always excellent, too.

To submit, your photo must: 

  • Be at least 2 megabytes (MB) in size
  • Feature Catskills food, farms, farmers or food-related subjects
  • Be sent via email to contest@watershedpost.com (entries submitted any other way, including Facebook or Flickr, will not be accepted)
  • Include your name, the location where it was taken, and the date it was taken

Submit your photo before 11:59 p.m. on Friday, October 16, 2015. Only one entry is allowed per person

Winners will be chosen by January 2016 and featured in the 2016 Catskills Food Guide . One grand prize winner gets a a $75 gift certificate to the Peekamoose in Big Indian.

The fine print:
No purchase is necessary to enter or win this contest. Contest begins on Friday, September 18, 2015, and ends at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, October 16, 2015. To enter, you must be 18 and live in New York State. To enter the contest, email a photo to contest@watershedpost.com. Limit one entry per person. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received. Contestants grant the Watershed Post and the Catskills Food Guide the right to publish their photos and their names in print and online. Entry must be the original work of the contestant, must not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, rights of privacy, publicity or other intellectual property or other rights of any person and must not violate any law. We reserve the right to disqualify any entry for any reason. All entries will be judged based on judges’ determination of creativity, wittiness, and beauty. The top scoring entry will be declared the contest winner. The prize — a gift certificate to the Peekamoose Restaurant & Tap Room in Big Indian — is worth $75. The winner will be notified by email in early 2016 and will be provided with instructions for redeeming the prize.
