Flooding on smaller tributaries and streams may occur in Delaware and Sullivan counties in the western Catskills throughout the night on Wednesday, Oct. 15 and into the following morning, according to NY-Alert and the National Weather Service in Binghamton.
NWS Binghamton issued a flash flood watch at 4:18 p.m., to last through late morning on Thursday, Oct. 16:
Periods Of heavy Rainfall Are Likely To Persist Through Much Of The night...And Perhaps Into Early Thursday. Rainfall Amounts Of 1To 3 Inches...With Locally Higher Amounts...Have Been Observed in The Watch Area Through Late Wednesday Afternoon...With additional Heavy Rainfall Anticipated.* Heavy Rainfall May Lead To Flooding Issues On Smaller Creeks And streams...And In More Urbanized Areas. Flooding On Our Larger river Systems Is Not Expected.
In some areas in the flood watch zone, one to three inches of rainfall have already been reported, according to the alert. More heavy rains are expected tonight.
