Two charged with illegal brush-burning at former Valley View Motel

Yesterday, Tuesday January 10, the Shandaken Police and the New York Department of Environmental Conservation cited 53-year-old Gerasimos Kokosis and 60-year-old Alexandros Bardis for burning a large amount of demolition debris at the site of the former Valley View Motel on Deer Lane in the town of Shandaken.

On Friday afternoon January 06th, the Shandaken Police and the  Department of
Environmental Conservation Police were requested to assist the Big Indian & Pine Hill Fire Departments with an investigation of a large burn on Deer Lane in Olìverea. Police state that 2 men were dernolishing the former Valley View Motel on Deer Lane and burning demolition debris from the site at that location. The men 53 year old Gerasimos Kokosis of Jackson Heights, Queens and 60 year old Alexandros Bardis of Margaretville possessed a bum permit for “Brush“ only and were each charged with 1 count of Uniawful Disposing of Solid Waste & Burning other than brush, both violations.
