Pressure still on for Cobleskill supervisor Tom Murray to resign

WTEN reports on last night's town board meeting in Cobleskill, where supervisor Tom Murray said (again) that he's determined to stay put despite repeated calls for his resignation.

"I've done nothing wrong," Murray said.

Once again, here are the words attributed to Murray, from a tape recorded by highway supervisor Tom Fissell:

"...and the other thing, too, is the, the holiday. (N-word) day. Martin Luther Day."

But if Tom Murray's not giving up, neither are a bunch of Cobleskill residents who are tired of seeing their hometown made into a synonym for "racist backwater."

"If that's what he wants to be known as, the town supervisor who used racial slurs, then keep it going, Tom," said David Keenan, also from the Concerned Citizens of Cobleskill. "Frankly, one more year of this? I've got thick enough skin to continue doing this."

In their quest to see Murray out as town supervisor, the group has even sent a letter to Governor Paterson, asking for him to personally intervene and remove Murray from office.

WRGB CBS6 has video from the meeting.
