Despite being allegedly caught on tape calling using the N-word in a national scandal that has already caused Cobleskill Mayor Mark Nadeau to resign, Cobleskill Town Supervisor Tom Murray doesn't see any reason to leave his job.

In a statement that was published on the Schoharie County website today, Murray reiterates his intention to keep on keeping on. Here's the statement in full:

Even while I have been advised by legal counsel to limit comment on the recent accusations of alleged racism, I’d like to assure my constituents and the community at large that it has never been my intent to single out and offend any one group or individual and apologize if I have contributed to the controversy of the past few weeks. Be assured that I am dedicated to continue my focus on the job you have entrusted me with.

Just as a refresher, here's what Murray is accused of saying:

"...and the other thing, too, is the, the holiday. (N-word) day. Martin Luther Day."

According to the Schoharie Times Journal, a group of Cobleskill citizens is planning to try to persuade Murray to change his mind at the next Board of Supervisors meeting, which will be held on August 20 at 10am.
