The Oneonta Daily Star unveiled its new website last night, as part of a company-wide push by its corporate parent, Community Newspaper Holdings, Inc.
Webmaster Jason Whitney claims it's not that different now...
Whitney said the changes to the site will be mostly cosmetic and organizational, with no major features or sections added or removed from the existing site.
...but we've noticed at least one big feature change: No more comments! Even the old ones have disappeared -- perhaps to the relief of reporter Tom Grace, who has been getting a lot of flak from the online rabble for his coverage of the recent shooting in Cooperstown.
I'm relieved that our links to their older stories still appear to be working. Though it looks like any story older than today has a big banner at the top of it marked "Inactive."
Update: The paper was just switching to a new comment system.
