Police: Catskill man fired gun in Home Depot

On December 14, 2016 State Police responded to a report of a shot being fired at the Home Depot Store on CR 23B in the Town of Catskill. Investigation at the scene revealed that a subject was at a register when he discharged one round from a .38 cal handgun which he had in his coat pocket. The round exited his coat then struck the floor. One employee was taken for medical treatment for a complaint of hearing loss. The subject left the store, but was located by State Police approximately 2 hours later at a residence in the Village of Catskill. He was identified as Steven J. Weiner, age 70, of Catskill, N.Y. The handgun, which was legally possessed by Weiner, was recovered. Weiner was subsequently charged with Reckless Endangerment 2nd degree (a class A Misdemeanor) and was issued an appearance ticket to appear on December 22, 2016 at the Town of Catskill Court.
