Three Ulster County men charged with gunpoint robbery at motel

Three young Ulster County men have been accused of committing an armed robbery at a motel in Dutchess County last week, police announced today.

On Friday, Jan. 17, state police responded to a reported robbery at the Pine Grove Motel in Beekman, in which three men entered a room at the motel and robbed a victim at gunpoint. Arrested after an investigation by state troopers in Poughkeepsie and Highland were two Wallkill men -- 20-year-old Andrew Hecht and 18-year-old Matthew Mackson -- and 18-year-old Nicholas Vanorden of Plattekill.

Police recovered several stolen items from the trio: a wallet, a cell phone and a camera.

All three men have been charged with first-degree robbery, a felony. They were arraigned in Beekman town court before Justice Robert Ferris, and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail, to return to court on Thursday, Jan. 23.
