Two arrested for West Shokan home invasion

Two suspects have been arrested in the investigation of a burglary of a West Shokan home on March 17, in which the victim was strangled and sustained minor injuries.

The Ulster County Sheriff's Office announced that a 29-year-old homeless woman, Kristen D. Mickey, and a 30-year-old man currently living at the Budget 19 Motel in Kingston, John J. Mahoney, were found in Kingston with proceeds from the burglary on Tuesday, March 20.

Sheriff's deputies say that the investigation is continuing, and additional arrests are expected.

From a press release issued today:

Ms. Mickey was charged with the felonies of Burglary in the 1st Degree and Assault in the 2nd Degree, as well as the misdemeanors of Petit Larceny and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 5th Degree. Mr. Mahoney was charged with the felonies of Burglary in the 1st Degree, Assault in the 2nd Degree and Strangulation in the 2nd Degree, as well as the misdemeanors of Petit Larceny and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 5th Degree. Both were arraigned in Olive Town Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 secured bond.
