Fracking on the Daily Show

Last night, the Daily Show's Jon Stewart interviewed oilman T. Boone Pickens about fracking and its prominent place in the Pickens Plan for American energy independence.

Highlights include Jon Stewart asking Pickens whether or not he's annoyed that BP has "soiled" his name, and Pickens saying repeatedly that he is "not after your car." Stewart also volunteered to be on Pickens' committee if his Pickens Plan is "half as good as you say it is."  At one point, Stewart yells: "Let's frack this country 'til it can't walk."

But near the end of the interview, Stewart puts the screws to Pickens about the safety of fracking, saying, "People are skeptical. They've all seen the documentary. They've all seen people open their faucets and fire comes out. ... I'd like to be reassured."

Pickens answers the question simply: "I have fracked several thousand wells. I know what I'm talking about."

Here's the extended interview, below. (Be warmed -- there's some mild profanity.)

Update: We initially misstated that Pickens founded BP; in fact, he founded a hedge fund called BP Capital Management, unrelated to British Petroleum.
