Fiery crash in Forestburgh kills local man

On Sunday evening, a man was killed in the Sullivan County town of Forestburgh when the Fiat convertible he was driving struck a tree and burst into flames. Today, the Times Herald-Record reports, he's been identified as 60-year-old Forestburgh resident George Zahurak:

Deputies say he was traveling southbound on Cold Spring Road when his 1980 Fiat convertible ran off the southbound shoulder of the road and struck a mailbox. Deputies believe Zahurak overcorrected, and shot across the road onto the northbound shoulder where he struck a tree. The impact resulted in a fire that consumed the vehicle.
