Delivery truck and pickup truck collide in Phoenicia

A delivery truck headed east on Route 28 in Phoenicia yesterday afternoon caused a collision with a pickup truck driven by a local teenager, totaling the pickup and injuring its occupants. A press release from the Shandaken Police Department:

The Town of Shandaken Police Department responded to a minor personal injury automobile accident Thursday afternoon at the intersection of State Route 28 & Bridge Street in Phoenicia. Police state that a delivery truck owned by Apex Express Inc of Secaucus NJ operated by 35 year old Richard Santos of NY, NY was East bound on State Route 28 at about 3:05 PM when he turned into the path of a 1994 Chevrolet pickup truck being operated by 16 year old Lorin Winne of Olive Bridge.

Winne struck the rear passenger side of the truck as it turned which completely totaled his vehicle. Winne and his passenger received minor injuries and were treated at the scene by Shandaken Ambulance, Shandaken police and the NYS Police Commercial Vehicle enforcement unit investigated the accident and Santos was issued 3 traffic tickets for Failure to yield the right of way, Operating out of restrictions (for failure to wear corrective lenses), and for Log book violations.

Police were assisted by the NYS Police, Shandaken Ambulance and Shandaken & Phoenicia Fire Companies.
