Thieves break into Willow post office, steal safe

Someone (or several someones) broke into a post office in the sleeply hamlet of Willow in Ulster County on Saturday. What they stole is pretty tantalizing, according to the State Police, who just sent out a press release looking for leads in the case:

The New York State Police and The Woodstock Police Department are currently investigating a burglary that took place at the Willow Post Office, where the perpetrators forced entry through a rear window and stole a dark silver safe from within the Post Office. The burglary is suspected to have occurred sometime between the evening hours of Saturday, October 9th, 2010 to the early morning hours of Tuesday, October 12, 2010. Anyone with any information is being asked to contact the New York State Police in Kingston at 845 338-1702.

Now, what could have been in that "dark silver safe?" Jewels? A faded treasure map? A crystal skull? Unmarked bills? The staties don't say.
