Phoenicia man arrested on weapons charge

From the Ulster County Sheriff's Office:

Detectives from the Ulster County Sheriff's Office report the arrest of Jason P. Zehnick, 37, of 6147 Route 28, Phoenicia, for the misdemeanor of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree.

In the early evening of 10/05/10, a person known to Zehnick came to the Sheriff's Office headquarters with civil papers for service upon Mr. Zehnick. One of the conditions of the papers was that any firearms in his possession were to be surrendered to the Sheriff's Office. This person then surrendered a shotgun that was known to have been in Mr. Zehnick's possission. Mr. Zehnick is prohibited from possessing any firearm, and was subsequently charged. He was issued an appearance ticket to return to Shandaken Town Court at a later date. The firearm remains in the custody of the Sheriff's Office.

Last year, Zehnick was arrested for allegedly passing a bad check in Middletown.
