Two young Saugerties residents were arrested on drug and weapons charges on Wednesday afternoon, January 8, after a multi-agency narcotics investigation found over 100 bags of heroin, black-market pharmaceuticals, scales and drug packaging material, a sawed-off shotgun and a rifle in their home.
Arrested Wednesday were 20-year-old Ana Jacobson and 18-year-old Justin Caggiano, both of 19 Burnett Road in Saugerties. The investigation and arrests were carried out by the multi-agency Ulster Regional Gang Enforcement Narcotics Team (URGENT), acting on a tip that heroin was being sold out of the house.
According to a news release from the Ulster County Sheriff's Office, Jacobson faces the following charges:
- Criminal Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd degree, a class B felony
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th degree, a class C felony
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree, a class D felony
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th degree
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree
Caggiano faces the following charges:
- Criminal Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd degree, a class B felony
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th degree, a class C felony
- Criminal Possession of a Firearm, a class E felony
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th degree
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree
Both Jacobson and Caggiano are being held pending arraignment.
