This Saturday, August 27, Phoenicia's Parish Field will host Shandaken Day, featuring vendors, watermelon-eating contests, music, games, and the annual tug-o-war among the town's emergency first responders. This year, the annual event celebrates the hamlets of Chichester, Woodland Valley and Phoenicia -- probably with an extra huzzah for Phoenicia, since it just got itself included in Budget Travel's Top Ten Coolest Small Towns of America this year. Phantastic, pholks.
