A notice on the Onteora Central School District's website says that a power outage has moved Phoenicia Elementary classes to the high school, but that school elections will still be held at the school this afternoon:
Power is out at Phoenicia Elementary. School is in session at the High School, as we are following our District Emergency Plan; Phoenicia staff will be reporting to the HS auditorium. School buses will be picking up students at their regular time and taking them to the HS. Early dismissal, as planned, will take place from the HS. If parents plan to drop off and pick up their children, there will be a designated section. School breakfast and lunch will be provided, as usual, at the HS. We are anticipating power to be restored to the area and the school by approximately 12 noon.Voting will occur as planned. Thank you for your cooperation. Sincerely, Phyllis McGill Superintendent
Apparently they're having phone trouble as well: another notice says that the only number that the school's central administration can be reached at today is 845-657-8499.
