Saturday, May 23 - Memorial Day Weekend - marks the summer opening of the historic buildings of the Delaware County Historical Association, including the 1797 Gideon Frisbee House – “The Birthplace of Delaware County.” Located just north of the village of Delhi alongside the picturesque Delaware River, the museum features several buildings of interest, in addition to the Federal-style Frisbee House: a one-room schoolhouse, gunsmith shop, blacksmith shop, tollgate and more. Explore the rich history of rural America!
Also explore our two exhibit galleries and gift shop, or stop by for a picnic and a walk along our beautiful nature trail and stroll through Lilac Lane, the park that now includes over 125 lilac bushes.
Historic Buildings and Exhibit Galleries hours: Tuesday - Sunday, 11am - 4pm.
H. Fletcher Davidson Library and Archives hours: Tuesday and Wednesday, 10am - 3pm.
A special opening day event will take place on Saturday, May 23 at 2:00 pm. Visit the museum for a presentation featuring facts and stories from Delaware County during the time of the American Revolutionary War - including the event where over 200 patriot soldiers got lost on nearby Elk Creek. Participants will be able to take a guided mini-hike of DCHA's nature trail which runs through the historic Frisbee Family cemetery and roughly follows the route on which the soldiers got lost 237 years ago.
