Auditions for Opening Acts: Young Artists Showcase 2014
will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 18 at The Centre.
Since 1992, the West Kortright Centre has conducted this project to encourage the artistic development of future generations. Youngsters and young adults (ages 10-21) from Delaware, Otsego, Chenango, and Schoharie counties are invited to audition for the opportunity to perform for five minutes prior to scheduled performances by professionals. They earn the chance to interact and share a stage with world-renowned artists, gaining performance experience and additional credentials for their résumés. Opening Acts is a much beloved regular feature of The Centre’s performance programming.
Auditions will be considered in any of the following categories: dramatic scenes, readings of original work, vocal and instrumental music including: blues, country, classical, hip hop, contemporary, jazz, folk and operetta. This year’s young artists will be chosen by a jury of arts professionals.
Anyone interested in auditioning is asked to call or e-mail in advance to confirm their participation and what they will perform.
