Fisher Home: Jeffersonville, NY “Deconstruction and Reconstruction.”

The new owners of a 1870s Greek Revival wanted to hold onto the home’s historic character. To bring it back to its previous glory, a full deconstruction and careful reconstruction was necessary. Attention was given to the materials, fixtures, and details throughout the house.

As a small growing family, they quickly realized an additional bathroom was needed on the second floor. The bathroom faucets, sinks and tubs, and sconces were purchased from salvage yards and refurbished. Before plastering, a medicine cabinet was built and installed into the wall.

Traditional plastering was applied throughout the structure, creating crisp lines and visual integrity. A top coat of milk paint added an overall warmth to the rooms.

The final facet of the project was a large architectural built-in. The new built-in turned an awkward, unused area of the living room into a functioning space, adding storage and beauty to the room. The project was completed in several phases, and evolved into a great collaborative relationship between the Fisher’s and MS Studios.

As proprietors of Echo Letterpress, recent business opportunities beckoned them to move out of state. The home was put on the market and quickly sold with the restoration work being a major selling point.
