Five HealthAlliance Nurses Honored for Excellence in Nursing

HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley® nominated five nurses to be honored for “Excellence in Nursing” by Hudson Valley Magazine: Sue Kehoe, Karen Ashe, Eric York, Margaret Marz and Evelyn Borchert.

Hudson Valley Magazine recognizes all nominated nurses at an awards reception and pays tribute to the area’s top 20 nurses in their May issue each year. Additionally, the top-rated nurse is announced at the reception and given a special gift. In order to be considered for nomination, nurses must demonstrate excellence, show commitment to the community, go above and beyond their work and make a significant impact on patient care. A committee from the magazine determines the top honorees.

“HealthAlliance is proud of these nominees and the values of caring, compassion and leadership that they bring to our hospitals,” said David Scarpino, CEO and President of HealthAlliance.

Nominee Sue Kehoe currently works in the Radiology Department, but previously worked in the ICU and was certified in Critical Care Nursing. Karen Ashe works as the Clinical Coordinator of the Methadone Treatment Program and has been with HealthAlliance for 11 years. Eric York is the nurse leader at HealthAlliance Hospital: Broadway Campus and has been at the hospital for 14 years. For over 20 years, Margaret Marz has worked in the Operating Room for HealthAlliance, and has been a Certified Ambulatory Perianesthesia Nurse the last several years. After working as an LPN at HealthAlliance for almost 15 years, Evelyn Borchert returned to school, became a licensed RN in 2005 and now works on the Broadway Campus as a surgical nurse.

“With each year it gets harder and harder to choose a few select individuals from such a superb nursing team,” said Kathy Lunney, chief nursing officer at HealthAlliance. “HealthAlliance is privileged to have high-quality nurses, like those nominated, working with us to serve the community.’
