Kingston, N.Y. – February 26, 2014 – HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley® is pleased to announce that both Mountainside Residential Care Center and Woodland Pond at New Paltz received a five-star rating in U.S. News & World Report’s annual Best Nursing Homes issue. Mountainside is receiving a five-star rating for the fourth year in a row.
“HealthAlliance is proud that Mountainside has earned this achievement for a fourth straight year, and equally excited that Woodland Pond has now received this recognition,” said David Scarpino, CEO of HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley®. “The community can be certain that we have high-quality, long-term care facilities right here in their backyard.”
In New York state, 23 percent of all nursing homes received a rating of five-stars. Mountainside was one of 13 five-star facilities located in central New York, out of 126 total facilities. Of 124 nursing homes in the Hudson Valley, Woodland Pond was one of 20 to receive five stars.
Scarpino credited the staff for the high caliber of Mountainside and Woodland Pond.
“These awards demonstrate our staff’s commitment to providing a superior experience for everyone using a HealthAlliance facility,” he said. “Each and every member of our team at both Mountainside and Woodland Pond is responsible for making the resident experience personal and rewarding.”
The rating is based on data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), which helps consumers, families and caregivers assess nursing facilities. This data comes from regular health inspections carried out by state agencies and mandatory reporting from the nursing homes themselves, with categories including health inspections, level of nurse staffing and quality of care.
U.S. News awarded the “Best Nursing Home” designation to homes that earned an overall rating of five stars from CMS in January 2014. For more information about U.S. News & World Report’s Best Nursing Homes, visit http://health.usnews.com/best-nursing-homes.
