Tonight’s Show: Fleischmanns’ Woody Biomass District Heating Project with Todd Pascarella (Mayor of Fleischmanns)

On tonight’s show we’ll be talking about the project being planned for the village of Fleischmanns, NY that will provide heat from a central plant to the residents and businesses there.  This concept alone is different, but in addition, it will be fired by wood (trees) from the surrounding forests.  Woody biomass is a renewable resource that can be obtained from just outside the gates of this wonderful village.  It will empower the people hooked up by having it controlled locally…better yet, it will save them money and build a stronger community!  Tune in to hear lots more about this exciting endeavor that will be the start of change for this community as well as many others throughout the Catskills Region.  Tune in at 91.3 FM or stream online at www.wioxradio.org to hear more.

\WHAT’S GOING ON IN THE FOREST?

In 3 words – “Lots of tracks!”  The deer seem to be abundant, especially in areas adjacent to open fields, peoples yards, villages, etc.  Anywhere there is a fruit bearing tree that might indicate to them fruit still hanging or on the ground under the snow.  This fresh snow affords an opportunity for us as well as predators to see what animals are out there and where they are traveling.  Other tracks….snow-mobile….everywhere,  snow shoes on golf courses, through fields and on trails throughout the woods.  What a special time to get out and observe.  No leaves on the trees makes it easy to see long distances.  Don’t miss this opportunity to get out and observe.  Write down questions, take pictures of the tracks and think about why the tracks are there, what made them, and is there a pattern?  A great time to connect yourself with your natural surroundings!

May the forest be with you,
