On February 1 at 10am , following the “Flesichmanns First” monthly meeting at the La Ca Bana Restaurant , Jim Waters, Executive Director of the Catskill Forest Association, will present the outcomes of the feasibility study conducted by a consultant firm, BERC (Biomass Energy Resource Center), and funded by the DEP and US Department of Energy. The study regarding a woody biomass heating system for our community was begun in 2011 and completed in 2013. The issues are compelling from an environmental point of view as well as fiscally. In Governor Cuomo’s State of the State Address earlier this month, he highlighted the need for cleaner communities and announced his Renewable Heat NY program. Jim will discuss how the proposed biomass project for Fleischmanns would target the Governor’s goals and he will explore all of the relevant criteria of the project in a 30 minute presentation and then take questions from the audience.
