The Second Annual Pine Hill Steampunk Festival will take place starting on the evening of October 25 with performances at the Pine Hill Community Center, the Pine Hill Firehouse, and a show by artist Peter Mayer in the Merry Boonedangle Gallery at Main and Bonnieview in Pine Hill. The festival will continue on Saturday the 25th, and Sunday the 27th.
Musicians are coming from Brooklyn, Saugerties, Long Island, New Jersey, and Georgia to participate in the various musical performances. Most of the musicians will also have sessions in which they interact with festival attendees and discuss and demonstrate in a sort of master class setting. Performers from the Catskill area will also participate.
Vendors of Steampunk fashions, jewelry, and other items will be a part of the festival. One vendor that registered early for the festival is Long Island-based "Goth Fae Fashions." The proprietor of this steampunk and faery fashion vendor was one of the coordinators of the fashion show held at the Steampunk World's Fair in Piscataway New Jersey last February. More than 5,000 people attended this event, held in four hotels in close proximity to each other. Another fashion vendor which is expected to return to the Pine Hill festival this year is the "White Gryphon" of Woodstock, New York, which has many striking steampunk oriented dresses, coats, and accessories.
The fee for vendors at the festival is $20 for the three days, purposely set low to encourage sellers to come and enrich the experience of the festival for participants by displaying interesting and unique wares. As the leading empresario of Steampunk events, Jeff Mach, commented on the WIOXradio.org "In Goth We Trust" show "vendors are the heart and soul of a festival." The vending area creates a unique pop-up marketplace tailored to the interests of the people attending.
There will also be costumes available at the Pine Hill Steampunk Festival for people to experiment with.
One of the best events on Saturday will be the "Dress Up Your Steampunk Pet" Fashion Show.
There will also be a photo booth so that people in Steampunk costume can have a visual image for recalling their time at the festival.
