Bacchanal Back for Second Busk & Bard in Roxbury

Aerialist Routines - Bacchanal Promotions

Among the numerous amazing performers at Busk & Bard on the afternoon of Saturday August 31st – musicians, magicians, clowns, dancers, poets  - the spectacular circus troupe Bacchanal Promotions will surely stand out as they soar high above downtown Roxbury.  This accomplished ensemble of multi-talented performers will again astound the crowd assembled on Bridge Street with their daring and trickery.

The festival goers will witness many feats of wonder – stilt walking, juggling, contact juggling, sword swallowing, fire breathing and fire eating, and other sideshow pleasers.  Need I even mention the bed of nails, the bed of glass, the mental floss, or the human blockhead.  Children of all ages will thrill to the extraordinary physical exploits as Bacchanal perform their marvelous acrobatic and aerialist feats.

Andrew and Lex D'Ascenzo founded Bacchanal Promotions in 2007 and they have performed their unique blend of entertainment at hundreds of events throughout the United States and Canada.   Lex and Andrew have pioneered many aspects of their current acts, pushing the boundaries of circus entertainment. They have combined their talents with other world-class artists to offer a dazzling variety of acts, with almost limitless possibilities.

Joining the fun at the festival will be a host of other performers all playing to the crowds along the street and at the Roxbury Arts Group.  In the RAG theatre Galumpha will demonstrate stunning acrobatics, striking visual effects, physical comedy and inventive choreography.  Out on the street, Chee Chee the Clown will create shapes of all kinds out of this air and Charlie MacIntosh will confound with his accomplished ledgerdermain.

Throughout the afternoon, Roxbury will resound with music of various styles - Jim Kopp’s country sounds, Eleemosynary featuring the contradance favorites of Peter Blue, Carol Mandigo and Danny Birnbaum  The God Forsaken String Band’s Appalachian  tunes and the guitar wizardry of Noel Fletcher – an eight year old guitar prodigy of classic rock.

Should all of this excitement provoke the slightest hunger, Busk & Bard will also provide an assortment of select culinary remedies ranging from the dining establishments of the village – East Branch, Cassie’s, Queens Mountain Café, The T-Bar and The Public to street vendors and the Ate O Ate food truck.  And to top it off, there will be face painting and tarot card reading.

With this diversity of entertainments and delights Busk & Bard offers a world of fun and wonder for the entire family; no one will want for amusement among the many marvels on show at this year’s festival.  Come one, come all to the 2nd annual Busk & Bard, Saturday August 31st from 12 to 5 along Bridge Street in Roxbury.  Guaranteed – there’s nothing else like it on the Delaware.
