The jazz quartet, Compass, is here Saturday, July 27th from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. Reservations suggested.
Compass has been together with the same personnel for 41 years being founded in Oneonta, NY
back in 1972. The band features Rick Lawn on saxophones and flute, Tom Ives on bass, Joel
Chace on keyboard and Al Colone on drums.
The “b-side,” which opened late in 2012, has rapidly become the place for live performing bands
in Oneonta, located at 1 Clinton Plaza in Downtown. The Andes Hotel also promotes a year round
slate of entertainment and musical programs and the Settlers Inn annually features their famous
Wednesday night “Jazz on the Deck.” This is Compass’ 4th appearance at the Settlers Inn.
Each of the July performances will feature differing musical sets which will offer listeners a blend
of original compositions, combined with the works of the greats of jazz, among them Miles Davis,
Chic Corea, John Coltrane, Duke Ellington, Thelonious Monk, Sonny Rollins and others.
