Drum Set with Peg Leg, Stumpf Fiddles and The Trilele
Ed Potokar has nearly finished installing his potophonics exhibit at the Orphic Gallery in Roxbury and it is looking spectacular indeed. The gallery appears to be host to an extraordinarily idiosyncratic symphony and that will prove true come this Friday July 5th when the Audio Artists gather to demonstrate the incredible sonic capabilities of these exquisitely hand crafted instruments and perform a highly anticipated set of their unparalleled music.
For this performance Potokar will be joined by Alice Malloy, Frank Coelho, Mark Schaaf, Paul Badger, all founding members of the original ensemble from Cleveland, and they will be joined by the incomparable Michael Suchorsky from Andes who was the drummer for Lou Reed in the late 70s, and Chris Butler of Tin Huey and The Waitresses.
With the potophonics exhibit at the Orphic Gallery, Ed Potokar has assembled together for public viewing for the first time representative pieces from every stage of his ingenuous career inventing and performing on this eccentric array of highly unique instruments. The Orphic Gallery is honored to host this extraordinary retrospective and invites everyone to join us on Friday, July 5th from 6-9 pm to celebrate the opening of the exhibit and revel in a special evening of musical experimentation.
The Orphic Gallery is located at the Roxbury Corner Store at 53525 State Highway 30, Roxbury, NY, at the corner of Main and Bridge Streets. The exhibit will continue through August 25, 2013 and be open to the public during the gallery’s normal business hours, Wednesday through Sunday, 12-5 pm, and by appointment.
