Hi,
We had an enthusiastic turnout for the Maple Syrup Breakfast Buffet, and lots of people who couldn't make it asking us to do it again. So we will! We plan to schedule another breakfast buffet in April, after the sap run is over and the Cook's have all three grades of new syrup available. Stay tuned.
This Saturday, March 30, we will have a Farm Tour. Meet at the store at 11am. Please make reservations. It will be a combination of walking and riding in the back of our pickup truck to see the animals with farmer John. This is when the farm evolves from everyone in their winter quarters to animals starting to move into spring habitats. Spring is coming a little slow this year, but some things won't wait! Meet the new llama, Petey, and two new alpacas, Panaka and Gus! Piglets are here! Very pregnant sheep and goats!
Coming Up
Next Saturday, April 6, is Shearing Day. Our flock of 50-something sheep will get their spring makeovers and health checks at the barn. You are welcome to drop by and see the action! Weavers: come pick out the fleece you want and watch that sheep get sheared. Take home a bag of the fleece of your dreams ... white, black multicolored, Icelandic or Dorset.
Easter Hams and Legs of Lamb
Easter is this Sunday, so come and get your holiday roast. Smoked hams and legs of lamb are in stock, as well as racks of lamb, prime rib roasts, and other holiday fare! And lots of eggs! Have you seen the method of dying brown eggs with onions skins? We'll give you directions!
Last Chance for March Madness Box!
Our store special this month is a "custom" box of meat and poultry ... of your choice! Buy $120 worth of meat and chicken, and get it for $100. Buy more than $120 and get it all for 15% off. (Sorry, bacon and sausages are excluded.) Last time for these savings. Last time at the 2012 prices. (Prices adjusted annually in April-May.)
Bees Knees Soup Kitchen
We return to our chili, and soup or stew offering this week.
Vietnamese-style Beef Soup (Pho)- rice noodles and beef in a rich broth made with oxtails (gluten and lactose free)
Oink and Moo Chili (gluten and lactose free, unless you add cheese and sour cream)!
Corn Muffins
Levain Baguettes
Honey Walnut Cake (growing up, my Greek neighbors always made this for Easter, a rich cake saturated in a honey syrup)
Organic fair-trade coffee, our own chai, assorted teas, milk, spring water
We were happily busier than expected at the Breakfast Buffet. Anna did a great job with me in the kitchen, cooking eggs, making a fabulous maple pecan cake, keeping up with the coffee, and tackling the dishes as they came in. And did they ever come in! Thanks, Anna! And Christine, thank you, too, for expertly managing the store and pitching in the kitchen as well! Great team here!
