HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley® is pleased to announce that Mountainside Residential Care Center received a 5-star rating in U.S. News & World Report’s annual Best Nursing Homes issue for the third year in a row. The rating was based on data from “Nursing Home Compare,” an online database presented by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), which helps consumers, families and caregivers assess nursing facilities. Mountainside was one of five 5-star facilities located in Central New York, out of 126 total facilities.
Philip Mehl, Administrator of Mountainside Residential Care Center, credited his staff’s workplace culture and commitment to person-centered care.
"To achieve 5-Star status three years ago was exciting, but having maintained it three years later is extremely gratifying,” said Mehl. “The vision and dedication of this staff cannot be understated and I am grateful to each and every member of our team.”
David Lundquist, CEO of HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley, said that Mountainside has received zero direct care-related deficiencies from the Department of Health for the last five years of inspections.
“The care that the team at Mountainside provides is outstanding, not only for our area, but by nationally accepted standards,” said Lundquist. “HealthAlliance is pleased to share this achievement with the community for a third straight year.”
The data for Nursing Home Compare comes from regular health inspections carried out by state agencies and mandatory reporting from the nursing homes themselves, with categories including health inspections, six nurse staffing measures and 19 quality measures.
