Hi,
The snow has started to fall. We're ready. Plenty of wood is stacked inside. The dogs and cats are stretched out around the stove. Hope everyone fares well!
Farm Tour!
We'll be open Saturday, Dec. 29, from 11-3 as usual. We plan a farm tour! John will bring our big pickup truck with bales of hay for seats to the store and bring you to the "winter yard, " the barn and the yards where our year-round animals spend the cold season. Sheep, goats, llamas, donkey, alpaca, laying hens, geese and guinea hens. Please make a reservation. The tour starts at 11am.
More Entertaining!
The store is well stocked with treats for New Year's Eve entertaining ... chicken liver pate, spiced roasted nuts, chocolate honey truffles, regional cheeses, smoked summer sausage, pepperoni, and our honey mustards. Legs of lamb, prime rib roasts, smoked hams. (Every cut for your regular supper, too!)
Test out our new Herbal Soothing Salve, and enjoy the aromas of the new lavendar-scented Milled Soaps and peppermint Lip Balm.
Bees Knees Cafe
Winter Squash and Apple Soup
Oink and Moo Chili
Corn Muffins
Irish Brown Bread
and my holiday biscotti ... speckled with green and red chunks (pistachios and cranberries)
Hot Chai, Fair-trade Organic Coffee, tea and milk.
Christine did a great job decorating the store with some help from Anna, and Jane's greenery added festivity inside and out. Thank you!
Kevin, one of the interns from two years ago, came to visit from Virginia a few days ago. Such a nice time. Here he is, on the decorated front porch, waiting for his ride ... days before the snow storm!
Coming in the new year! Our new online mail order system, winter monthly box specials, and signup opens for 2013 meat and poultry CSA subscriptions.
Happy New Year!
Best,
Carol
