Hi,
Move over local cheeses, the cooler is getting filled with tender fresh lamb! All cuts are available from chops to ribs to shanks to portion size racks of lambs. Great holiday fare! We will have cuts of mutton, as well. Try a leg of mutton for a special dinner! We're open Saturday from 11-3, and well stocked with all our frozen meats and chicken as well.
And try some locals cheeses while you're in the cooler ... Cooperstown Cheese, like the award winning Celene, Nettle Meadow Farm's goat and combo cheeses like the ever popular Kunik, and Brovetto's Harpersfield cheeses, including a raw milk cow cheese. All excellent to nibble with our grassfed beef summer sausage or pepperoni. We'll have samples out for you to try.
We have freshly made lard, both pints and quarts for your holiday baking, from our own heritage breed pigs.
Local Gifts
We have all kinds of local gift items. Our own lambskins. Sheep and llama blended socks. Felt hats from Ravens Roost Farm. Pottery from Smyth/Cid studio, Photography from Beth Schneck. Lithographs from Richard Chiriani. Don't forget our gift boxes! Bees Knees Cafe
As we move into the busy and colder part of the year, remember that we will have containers frozen chili and soups available for you to have on hand at home.
This week's Soup Kitchen menu:
Beef Barley Soup, loaded with mushrooms (lactose free, barley has gluten)
Oink and Moo Chili (gluten free, lactose free without sour cream and cheese)
Corn Muffins
Irish Brown Bread
Clementine Cake (have a taste, and then order one for the holidays!) (gluten free, lactose free)
A bureaucratic victory!
After an ordeal that has lasted almost two years, I have finally gotten permission to place a sign at the corner of Rt. 81 and 145, and in Potter Hollow. I had to get permission from the town, the county and finally the state. Given the struggle, the modest little directional sign we want will be anti-climatic, but hopefully, it helps everyone to find us! Look for it in the new year!
Guard Geese (photo)
We got these two handsome fellows last summer. After we put them in the field with our laying hens, the predator problem stopped. Great solution! (We think fisher cats, who were displaced from their old habitats by hurricane Irene last year were hunting in our area), For the winter, the geese are hanging out by our house, (along with the guinea fowl and the layers) enjoying the pond before it freezes over. We plan to get a couple females in the spring to join them. (Sorry, no geese for sale for your holiday table!)
Best,
Carol
