WP Class: Using Photos for Free

Online photos: Understanding copyright and finding photos to use for free

There are multiple ways to find fantastic photos online to use for free. You just have to know where to look, and how to take advantage of new open-source copyright licenses.

At the end of the session, you will be able to:

  • Use Flickr, an online photography sharing website, to find gorgeous free photos
  • Use Creative Commons licensing scheme to find and use free photos, and to license your photos
  • Avoid paying sky-high licensing fees on iStockPhoto and other sites
  • Know how to navigate the etiquette of asking for permission
  • Avoid becoming an accidental photo thief

About the Watershed Post's classes

A series of hands-on workshops taught by Watershed Post Publisher Julia Reischel, in partnership with the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce and the Delware County E-Center. Learn how to use free and affordable web-based tools to get the word out, get noticed, and save money.

The courses cost $35 for a 90-minute session, and you'll come out of them knowing how to do many things for free using the web. You can see the entire course schedule on our course page.

All courses are held in the Computer Training Room at the Delaware County E-Center (5½ Main St. Delhi, NY 13753). Each workshop costs $35 and lasts 90 minutes. Each workship has an enrollment minimum of 5 people and a maximum of 16 people. If fewer than 5 people have enrolled in the workshop 24 hours before it is scheduled to be held, the workshop will be cancelled and all fees will be refunded.
