Hi All,
Thanks to all of you who came to the end-of-the-Cafe-season celebration, the Pig Roast last Sunday. In spite of the chill, the event turned into a party. The rain held off, friends old and new came, cups of hot cider warmed our hands and Clint did a great job roasting the pork! And thanks to our great staff who made the season happen: Billie, Katherine, Christine, Dina and Amanda in the kitchen and store, with interns Ellen and Gabby in supporting roles. And John, of course.
Now Open Every Saturday
We now change our schedule and are open on Saturdays, 11am-3pm. The store is open and the Bees Knees Soup Kitchen offers a comforting lunch of our chili, a soup or stew, homemade bread and dessert. $10 for the hot dish and bread, $15 with dessert. Beverages additional (hot cider, chai, coffee, tea). I'll list the final menu by Friday on our website.
Fresh Beef and Bacon, (yes, Bacon!)
This Saturday we have a double header: Fresh Beef and Fresh Bacon! All the cuts of beef you want ... moving into stew season, thinking about pot roasts, and yet I still grill steaks and kabobs year round. And the latest batch of bacon and smoked ham is being picked up from the smokehouse later this week. We'll have bacon in stock for a while now!
Hot Off the Press!
Shannon Hayes new cookbook "A Long Way on a Little" is here. Its subtitle sums it up: "An earth lover's companion for enjoying meat, pinching pennies and living deliciously." Shannon's other books are also in stock, "Radical Homemaker," the "Grassfed Gourmet," and "The Farmer and the Grill."
Time to Talk Turkey
It's serious now.... around 5 more weeks until Thanksgiving, believe it or not. If you have not ordered your turkey, better do it now. You know we have always sold out!
