Zero Care-Related Deficiencies for Fifth Straight Year, Ranked in Top 10% of Nursing Homes
HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley is pleased to announce its Mountainside Residential Care Center campus has received zero direct care-related deficiencies from the Department of Health for the fifth year in a row. The accomplishment ensures Mountainside will retain its 5-Star rating from Medicare's "Nursing Home Compare" that places it in the top 10% of nursing homes nationwide. The rating system helps consumers, families and caregivers compare nursing homes and is based on data gathered from Health Inspections, Staffing and Quality Measures. All nursing homes that are certified to participate in Medicare and/or Medicaid are included on Nursing Home Compare.
Philip Mehl, Administrator of Mountainside Residential Care Center, is proud of the ongoing dedication to excellence that his team has demonstrated for the last several years.
"It has been over five years since we received a direct care-related deficiency from the Department of Health," said Mr. Mehl. "One of the surveyors even confessed that if she had to pick a nursing home, Mountainside would be her choice."
"We have made a commitment to providing exceptional health care close to home," said HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley CEO David Lundquist. "We applaud Mountainside Residential Care Center for doing an outstanding job."
The rating, which is generated based on a "Statement of Deficiencies" prepared by the surveyors, will be posted on www.medicare.gov.
Mountainside's staff includes nationally certified wound care nurses, certified resident assessment coordinators, hospice and palliative care nurses, reiki practitioners, LeadingAge Procare consultants, LCSW and LMSW social work staff, and a board-certified medical director.
The Health Inspection ratings are calculated based on the results of nursing home surveys over the past three years. The Staffing ratings are calculated based on the number of residents compared to the number of nurses attending to them. At Mountainside, their recruitment and retention numbers are far above the national average. The Quality Measure ratings are calculated based on ten aspects of care. Complete information about the Nursing Home Compare guidelines can be found on www.medicare.gov.
