The West KortrightCentre, East Meredith, NY, on Friday, August 17, at 7pm, will present filmmakerJessica Vecchione screening two of her documentaries, Robert, Portrait of an Art-er, and Making the Shift to Community Connections. Admission is by free-will donation,and there will a Q&A discussion with the filmmaker at the end of thescreenings.
Robert, Portrait of an Art-er, is adocumentary that traces the works of alittle known artist and long-time resident of Franklin. In the late nineties,Robert began constructing fantastic stone castles and keeps from native stonein his small backyard. He has since created amazingly unique works at the homesof several Franklin residents. But Robert's artistic interests and instincts goway beyond his stonework. In the 1980’s Robert began collecting early20th century household appliances. As a result, Robert’s house and yard are a work of art in which he lives his life. The Film won best ShortDocumentary at the DIY 2012 Film Festival and was an official selection of theBuffalo Niagara 2012 Film Festival.
Making the Shift to Community Connections is a short documentary about the Arc of Delaware County, located in New York’s Catskill region, and highlights how they havespearheaded unique programs to establish new and meaningful community connections for the people with disabilities they support. Through a series of vignettes, the viewer will glimpse the immense satisfaction that is gained by people with disabilities as well as the community members who, with fullhearts, have offered their sincere friendship.
