The “Community ArtSpace” is open! This new collaborative, community venture is off to a great start of diversified programming which includes low cost adult workshops, free children’s workshops, youth arts club, CAT workshops & gallery and a community bulletin board. Further plans include senior programming, a community gallery, historical lectures, interior design demonstrations, book signings, artist demonstrations and shows....etc. Endless possibilities! Any organization, business or individual is welcome to collaborate with us in this public space and “Get Involved” either in established programs or create a new community project, program, enrichment or promotion.
This viewable public space is directly attached to the Catskill Mountain Artisans Guild’s gallery in the Common’s Building, Margaretville which enables this center to be open and administrated seven days a week and is available to other arts organizations as a resource point to promote their programming.
The development for this pilot “Community ArtSpace” came from a grant from the Small Business Development Fund with additional funding from the Guild. The ultimate goals with the success of this project are to help develop and fill vacant main street real estate with full scale arts programs with professionally equipped studios to offer viewable workspaces, low cost artist studios, and an enduring workshop presence in our community.
This project also hopes to spur further collaborations with regional organizations and businesses to create new and innovative arts programming to help to establish an “Arts Camp” marketing strategy for the region to increase tourism and drive traffic to our Main Streets while educating the public about the artist and process behind the creation of regional fine crafts and arts.
The “Community ArtSpace” is administered by the Catskill Mountain Artisans Guild with development funding in part by a grant from the Small Business Development Fund administered by the MARK Project and programming funding from the O’Connor Foundation, Arc of Delaware County, Kids in the Kaatskills and the Catskill Mountain Artisans Guild.
