The Town of Hyde Park Historical Society hosted a showing of Sweet Violets this week and filled the house. Hyde Park was a violet growing area along with much of Dutchess County. There were some 13 violet growers in the town and a descendant of one of the prominent growing families was in attendance.
Sweet Violets seems to have captured a place in many hearts and sales continue to flourish both online and at retail outlets. The Historical Society had bunches of Battenfeld grown violets as door prizes and one of the winners is displayed below.
