A Gilboa resident commented on our last post about expanding service to Gilboa. This is our response.
MTC Cable has secured the funding assistance necessary to facilitate the build-out of approximately 20 miles of new fiber optic network within the Towns of Gilboa and Conesville which are currently un-served with broadband. We are finalizing our engineering efforts to determine the existing pole line routes necessary to connect the areas which we have initially identified in our construction proposal. The final serviceable locations will be determined by the most densely populated areas, along trunk routes which will facilitate future expansion opportunities (ie Route 30, Route 990V, etc), community anchor institutions (Town Halls, Fire Departments, etc), and input from the Municipalities themselves. In addition, MTC will continue to work with the Municipalities and Regional Economic Development Organizations to explore additional funding resources necessary to continue the build-out of wire-line and wireless facilities into the more rural regions of the municipalities. The MTC fiber optic network will be capable of providing a suite of voice, video, and broadband services. We encourage interested residents to contact the MTC Customer Service Department and provide their address and contact information. You can email MTC Customer Service at mtc@catskill.net. This will enable us to determine if your location is included in the initial build-out area when our engineering process is complete.
