Mercedes Cecilia explains how the art show came about:
“Two months ago, three of my "little" neighbors knocked my door and asked me:"Can we do art with you? My heart jumped of joy!
The next day we began to spent time drawing and telling stories, and soon seven more young artists were at my porch. They wanted to use brushes and do paintings of trees, flowers, birds, and mountains. It was easy to guess their wish so I began to offered them art workshops: "Creating Beauty and Peace" The workshops are filled with the creative expressions of these children. We meet to paint at my porch or next to the community garden. Some days we sing while painting or share stories, but we always are aware of our environment. When a frog jumps next to the paint box or a hawk flies in circles above our heads we stop painting and share all what we know and feel about the bird or the frog. These children are loving and creative Woodstock Artists. Join us in celebrating their first Art Exhibit.
Mercedes Cecilia provided free of charge art workshop to children living in Woodstock Commons. She does not receive monetary support. We are grateful to RUPCO for supplying art materials and refreshments for this Children Art Show.
